Processwork
ProcessWork is an original therapeutic approach internationally also known as “Process Oriented Psychology” (POP) that was designed by Arnold Mindell, PhD., who became a quoted Jungian Analyst after his Master in Physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge.
This trans-disciplinary approach unites the new paradigms of science – such as quantum physics, new biology, field and systems theory, information and communication sciences – to ancient spiritual disciplines such as indigenous practices, Shamanism and Taoism.
Processwork is a practice of awareness that fosters an individual and collective change (through worldwork). It works on physical symptoms, relationship problems, conflicts and social tensions in groups to develop the awareness of a ‘human potential’ with the intent to realize a ‘deep democracy’ in any environment and relationship.
One expression that impressed me ever since I did my basic ProcessWork training in 2015, was “sitting in the fire”. This image represents dealing with difficult situations and emotions – like abuse, revenge, anger and rage – till you really own them and are done with them.
That sometimes takes courage and persistence, but from personal experience I can say it is totally worth it! Additionally it is an incredible training to take your life in your own hands with all the responsibility – and benefits – that come with that.
